Building History
Seattle architect Paul A. Thiry, Sr., (1904-1993) received an invitation to submit an entry into the second phase of the Corregidor-Bataan Memorial Competition of 1956-1957. His firm was one of ten invited to take part. The first phase of the competition was open. Thiry, unlike most other competitors in the second phase, worked on his own, without consulting sculptors, engineers or landscape architects. His design did not win the competition.
