Overview

An in-house designer for the Union Pacific Railroad created the plans for the La Habra depot in 1922. Construction was completed the following year.

Building History

This Union Pacific Railroad completed this Mission Revival depot in La Habra in 1923. The Southwest Builder and Contractor reported that the Engineering Department of the Union Pacific Railroad Company had created preliminary plans for "new depots at La Habra." It added, "Working drawings will be prepared at once." (See "La Habra Union Pacific Depot," Southwest Builder and Contractor, 10/20/1922, p. 30.)

According to an archivist for the Orange County Library: "The Station was built in 1923 and provided mostly freight service. The building is now part of The Children's Museum at La Habra." (See Calisphere.org, "Image / Union Pacific Station, La Habra, 1964," accessed 06/12/2023.) The Depot became part of the La Habra Children's Museum in 1979. (See Orange County Illustrated, 09/1979, p. 32.)

In 2023, the former depot continued to serve the Children's Museum at La Habra.
