Building History

The Hamilton Arms Apartments catered to a wealthy clientele. In 1924, Cornelius Holgate Hanford writing in Seattle and Environs, 1852-1924, Volume I, listed it as one of the most luxurious apartment buildings in the city: "Apartments and family hotels are four hundred in number, and some, including the Sorrento, St. Paul, Cambridge, Clark, Spring, Carolina Court, Hamilton Arms and the Wilsonian are high class." (See Cornelius Holgate Hanford, Seattle and Environs, 1852-1924, Volume I, [Chicago: Pioneer Historical Publishing Company, 1924], p. 430.)
