Building History
This branch of the Seattle 1st National Bank was replaced by a newer and more modern facility in 1978 and 1979. A photograph in the Seattle Times of 12/1977 carried the caption: "Work to nearly double the size of the Seattle-First National Bank's University District branch in a $1,150,360 redevelopment project is to begin the first of the year. In phased construction, the present building at 4701 University Way, N.E., will be replaced by a larger structure with additional parking space to the north. Design is by The Richardson Associates, Architects, with Eberhalter & Gaunt as general contractor. Work should be finished in 12 to 15 monts."
