This school operated as the Market and 5th Street School in 1862, and was renamed following the assassination of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865.

Building History

F.A. Elliott served as the Principal of the Market and 5th Street School in 1862. (See San Francisco Directory for the Year Commencing September, 1862, [San Francisco: Henry G. Langley, 1862], p. 29.)

By 1867, Ira G. Hoitt had been installed as the Lincoln School's Principal.
