Building History
In 1855, a classified advertisement appeared in the Sacramento Daily Union that indicated a change in management of Sutter Hall, an early assembly hall in Sacramento, CA: "The copartnership heretofore existing under the name A. Watters & Co. was dissolved on the 29th of August, 1855. The undersigned have this day formed a copartnership under the name of A. Watters & Bro. and have assumed the entire management of Sutter Hall.--Thankful for past favors, would request a continuance of the same. A. Watters. J. Watters. September 6th, 1855." (See "Sutter Hall!" Sacramento Daily Union, vol. 9, no. 1389, 09/07/1855, p. 3.)
