The copper magnate William Andrews Clark (born 01/08/1839 in Connellsville, PA-d. 03/02/1925 in New York, NY) purchased the mansion and estate, named Bellosguardo, of the Graham Family in 1923. William A. Clark died in 1925, but his second wife Anna Eugenia La Chapelle (born 03/10/1878 in Calumet, MI-d. 10/11/1963 in New York, NY) and daughter Huguette Marcelle Clark (born 06/09/1906 in Paris, France – d. 05/24/2011 in New York, NY), used the house periodically until the mid-1930s, when they demolished it and commissioned Pasadena architect Reginald Johnson (1882-1952) to design a new Mediterranean Revival villa,
