Dr. Leonard D. Rosenman and his family erected this weekend house that overlooked Bolinas Lagoon in Bolinas, CA.

Building History

Surgeon Leonard Daniel Rosenman (born 01/19/1918 in Brooklyn, NY-d. 08/26/2011 in San Francisco, CA) was the son of the noted physician, Jacob D. Rosenman (d. 1973), a Russian-Jewish immigrant, who practiced in the New York area, but moved to Southern CA in 1951. Two of his sons, Leonard and Ray H. Rosenman also became prominent physicians working at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco. Leonard became Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Mount Zion and also an instructor at the Stanford University Medical School. Leonard Rosenman married Helen A. Weissman (born 06/18/1918 in MI-d. 01/19/2010 in San Francisco, CA), a student at the University of Michigan, on 06/23/1940 in Detroit, MI. Her family also were Russian-Jewish immigrants, who settled in the Detroit area. Her father, Sam, (born c,. 1886 in Russia) was a manufacturer of bed springs in 1920. Building Notes

Newspaper articles noted the Rosenman's "tentlike" roof. Distinctive rooflines became notable features of houses by Marquis and Stoller.
