Building Notes
La Casita Apartments in the Uptown neighborhood of Seattle, WA, was awarded a Merit Award in the Unit Masonry Association's Award Competition for Puget Sound architects in c. 1954. The Unit Masonry Idea Book said of the L-shaped apartment complex: "Concrete block provides both interior and exterior finish of pleasing texture and durability for this apartment building at 610 Second West. Not only has this material provided a building as nearly maintenance free as possible, but has provided acoustical and insulation qualities so desirable in a multiple unit dwelling." (See Unit Masonry Association, Incorporated, Unit Masonry Idea Book, [Seattle: Unit Masonry Association, Incorporated, c. 1954], n.p.)
