Overview

The Seattle architectural firm of Mithun, Incorporated, worked with BOKA Powell of Dallas to design this office building for the varied business interests of the Perot Family, whose patriarch, H. Ross Perot, Sr., (1930-2019), made his fortune building the company Electronic Data Systems (EDS), established in 1962. It was situated in Turtle Creek, a rapidly developing neighborhood three miles due north of Downtown Dallas. Mithun and BOKA Powell designed the building for Hillwood Urban, the real-estate arm of the Perot Family companies, headed in 2021 by Ross Perot, Jr.

Building History

Mithun, Incorporated, of Seattle, designed the Perot Family Offices in association with Dallas-based, BOKA Powell Architects, licensed in TX. They worked with Emily Summers Design Associates, Interior Designers, and Balfour Beatty Construction, the general contractor. The 389,130-square-foot building occupied a 5.85-acre campus situated in an oxbow of Turtle Creek. According to the Mithun website in 2021, the building's program included: "Offices, conference spaces, dining for more than 300 employees, interpretive facility, fitness center, extensive gardens and gathering areas, structured parking for 430 cars." (See Mithun.com,"Corporate Campus Returns Home: Perot Family Offices, Dallas, TX," accessed 09/28/2021.)

Located just outside of Downtown Dallas, the office building was set in a more open, mixed urban/suburban part of the city. The architects' sought to provide the following qualities to the commission: "The design reflects ambitious goals for health, sustainability and community connection, including direct access to a natural creek corridor and multi-use trail system for employee use. The high-performing building and landscape design supports energy and water conservation." (See Mithun.com,"Corporate Campus Returns Home: Perot Family Offices, Dallas, TX," accessed 09/28/2021.) The office building was located about two blocks southwest of Turtle Creek Park and nearby to the greenspace corridor mirroring the meanders of Turtle Creek.

Building Notes

The Perot Family Offices obtained LEED Silver Certification.
