Westlake Avenue was shortened in preparation for the 1962 World's Fair, with its southern end lopped off. Westlake formerly terminated at Pike Street rather than Stewart as it did after 1962.

Overview

The Metropolitan Federal Savings and Loan Association of Seattle was established on 03/01/1935. In 1959, it had its headquarters at 1516 Westlake Avenue, between Pike and Pine Streets in the heart of Downtown Seattle. The firm operated independently until its merger with Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association on 11/30/1996.
