Building History
While most of the Redwood Lodge Motel opened in 1950, according to the Los Angeles County Assessor, a 1,239-square-foot portion was built in 1942. It is likely that a previous motel stood on this site, but was rebuilt in 1950. A postcard of the time period referred to it as the "New Redwood Lodge Motel."
In about 1950, the Redwood Lodge Motel advertized its rooms to have telephones, full-tile showers or tubs, wall-to-wall carpeting and “Panelray heat.” Some kitchenettes were available, and a cafe operated on the property.
The motel, operating in 2021 as the "America's Best Value Inn," contained 12,171 square feet, and 31 units.
Alteration
A portion of the main office wing was removed at some point.
A fence enclosing the parking court was added.
