Overview
The Hotel Crellin operated on the northwest corner of Washington and 10th Streets in Oakland, CA, between 1909 and 1912, at least. (See Polk-Husted Company's Oakland City Directory, 1909, p. 15 and Polk-Husted Company's Oakland, California, City Directory, 1912, p. 1022.)
Building History
Fred A. Jordan managed the Hotel Crellin in 1909, while John B. Jordan supervised the nearby Hotel Athens at 1304 Broadway. (See Polk-Husted Company's Oakland City Directory, 1909, p. 15.)
Building Notes
The hotel's advertisement in the Oakland, California, City Directory, 1912, (p. 1022), stated that it was "The only hotel on the coast where the employees are not allowed to accept tips."
Demolition
The Hotel Crellin was razed. In 2021, the two-block-long Oakland Convention Center sprawled across the site.
