Overview

Opened in 1922, the Roosevelt Elementary School #1 in Bakersfield, CA, operated for thirty years before the Tehachapi Earthquake of 07/21/1952 inflicted serious damage on the building. It was deemed unsafe and razed shortly thereafter.

Alteration

According to the Annual Report of the Bakersfield City Schools for the Year Ending 1930: "Under the direction of Symmes & Cullimore Architects, an addition of four rooms has been completed at the Roosevelt School, cost about $24,500.
