Building History

M.A. Lindberg purchased a share in the Artlington Hotel in Bakersfield, CA, beginning in 1900. The History of Kern County, a history written in 1914, said of him: "…He came to Bakersfield in March 1900, shortly afterward buying an interest in the lease of the Arlington hotel. For a time the inn was conducted under the name of T.H. Fogarty Company, but later Mr. Lindberg acquired control of the entire lease and since then has managed the hotel in his own name. The building occupies a central location on the corner of Chester avenue and Nineteenth street.” (See Wallace A. Morgan, “M.A. Lindberg,” in History of Kern County, [Los Angeles: Historic Record Company, 1914], p. 1442.)
