Building History
The Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) had its own block located at 209 South Broadway in 1895-1896. In that year, E.A. Forrester was the president, while W.D. Ball served as secretary. (See Maxwell's Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1895, p. 31 and Maxwell's Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1896, p. 1460.)
In 1900, the YMCA continued at this location but J.R. Clark was the Los Angeles YMCA's President and W.D. Ball continued as General Secretary. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1900, p. 812.)
