Overview

The Hibernia Brewing Company, founded in 1867, produced steam beer at this San Francisco plant. It was the second brewery operated by Matthew and Frank Nunan, owners of the firm. The first plant burned in the fire following the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906.

Building Notes

In 1914, the Hibernia Brewery stood at1241-1247 Howard Street in San Francisco. Matthew Nunan was its proprietor. (See Crocker-Langley San Francisco Directory, 1914, p. 916.)
