The Mason Building stood on the southeast corner of South 10th Street and A Street, approximately at 1011 A Street. The R.L. Polk and Company's Tacoma, Washington, City Directory, 1892, (p. 505), indicated that the building stood at 1001 A Street.

Building History

Allen C. Mason, President of the Mason Mortgage Loan Company owned the building in 1892. Mason was also Vice-President of the Commencement Bay Land and Improvement Company. (See R.L. Polk and Company’s Tacoma, Washington, City Directory, 1892, p. 505.)

Building Notes

In 1892, the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) maintained its hall in the Mason Block. (See R.L. Polk and Company’s Tacoma, Washington, City Directory, 1892, p. 332.)
