Overview

The Seattle Hardware Company maintained its third headquarters in the Colman Building at the intersection of 1st Avenue and Marion Street between 1890 and 1905. The Seattle Hardware Company erected its own building at 1st Avenue and South King Street in 1905.

Building History

In 1894, the Seattle Hardware Company (SHC) had its offices and wholesale and retail store operations at 819-823 Front Street (later renamed 1st Avenue). The SHC's leadership in 1894 included C.A. Black of Detroit, MI, President, A.S. Burwell, Vice-President and Manager, E.B. Burwell, Secretary, and C.H. Black, Treasurer.
