Building History

In 1861, J. Martenstein and Company operated the National Steam Flour Mills, producers of domestic flour, corn meal, bran, buckwheat and other milled grains. Partners of J. Martenstein and Company included, in 1861, Martenstein, A. Walrath, and William Brown. The mill operated at the intersection of Market Street and Sansome Street.
