Building History
According to an advertisement in Langley's San Francisco City Directory, 1874, (p. v.) the Pacific Rolling Mill Company was "Established for the manufacture of railroad and merchant iron. Every variety of shafting, including all sizes of steamboat shafts, cranks, pistons, connecting rods, etc., car and locomotive axles and frames, and hammered iron of every description and size. It had capital stock of $1 million in 1874. Its leadership included William Alvord, president, L.B. Benchley, Vice-President, B.P. Bruner, superintendent, and Samuel, I.C. Swezey, secretary."
