Overview
The City of Hoquiam requested assistance from the Works Progress Administration (WPA) for funds and expertise to build this 9,000-seat stadium, used by a host of minor-league baseball teams, local school-age sports teams, such as the Hoquiam High School football team, and a semi-professional football team, the Grays Harbor Bearcats. Construction began in early 1938 and its grand opening occurred on November 24th of the same year.
