Overview
This brick commercial building was built c. 1890, and stood at 1101 A Street. The Seattle, Ellensburg and Spokane Fires had occurred in 1889, and builders turned increasingly to brick as a more fire-resitant building material in 1890. To make way for the Perkins Builidng, the Tacoma house moving firm of Nichols & Handley relocated the Lister Block a few doors down to 1105 A Street in 1906. It was the first brick building to have been moved in the City of Tacoma. (See "Lister Building," Tacoma Public Library, Northwest Room, Tacoma-Pierce County Buildings Index, accessed 03/06/2020.)
Demolition
The Lister Block was razed to make way for the addition to the Perkins Building in 05/1909.
