Overview
Edmond S. Meany, then a state legislator for Seattle (and later a history professor at the University of Washington), working with administrators, commissioned the well-respected Seattle architect William E. Boone to design a master plan for the new northeast Seattle campus of the university in 1891. The plan was abandoned because it proved too costly.
