Architects A. Godfrey Bailey (b. 1889) and Carl Boller (1868-1946) collaborated on a commercial design for owner F.E. Farnsworth in mid-1925. Farnsworth leased the 1,800-seat theatre to E.D. Yost. The theatre would anchor a small office/retail complex, a mixed-use building type very commonly built during the 1920s. Two stores lined the first floor commercial spaces, while the second contained offices.

The Yost Theatre was remodeled in 1947 by the Santa Ana firm of Wildman and Faulkner;
