The 1st Church of Christ, Scientist, congregation noted on their web site: "In March l945, a group was recognized as a Christian Science society by The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, and in October l950 we became the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Palm Springs. The present church site at 605 Riverside Drive South was purchased in l95l and construction on a new church building began in October l956. The first church service was held on March 17, l957.
