Building History
Beginning in 1890, The Lace House, a retail seller of fancy goods, dry goods and furnishings, operated in a space within the Occidental Building. (SeeSeattle, Washington, City Directory, 1890, p. 137 andSeattle, Washington, City Directory, 1891, p. 141.)By 1892, The Lace House was also known as the "J.A. Baillargeon and Company" store. (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1892, p. 167.)
The first Lace House store location was at 711 Front Street in 1889. It burned in the Fire of 1889.
