Overview

The Occidental Hotel was in operation in 1874 and stood at the corner of 4th and E Streets. John Bogan managed the hotel in 1874. (See Information Relative to the City of San Diego, California, [San Diego: San Diego Daily Union, 1874], p. 43.)

The name "Occidental Hotel," was a popular one in the 19th century, with at least six operating on the West Coast between San Diego, CA, and Seattle, WA.
