Building History
John von Herberg lived above the theatre with his third wife, M.E. Darling, in the 1910s. (See Eric Flom, HistoryLink.org, "Susan Edgerly remembers her father, Seattle motion picture exhibitor John G. von Herberg, and her Seattle childhood," published 01/16/2002, accessed 04/23/2019.)
The National Theatre was closed in 1913 and reopened in 1914 as the "Tillikum Theatre." (See Seattle, Washington, City Directory, 1914, p. 2049.)
