Overview

Los Angeles,CA-based architect Arthur Burnett Benton designed this early Christian Science church in Riverside, CA, completed in 1900. Benton would also be responsible for designing Riverside's main architectural attraction, the Mission Inn, for Frank A. Miller in 1903.

Building History

The magazine, Stone, noted in its issue of 10/1900: "The Church of Christian Science Society will erect a fine church. The money is all secured. Arthur B. Benton, Los Angeles, architect." (See "Churches, Convents, Synagogues, Etc.," Stone, vol. 21, no. 4, 10/1900, p. 378.) A cornerstone was laid on 10/24/1900, and construction completed rapidly, by 02/10/1901.
