By 1876, Henry Casebolt had accepted a position as superintendent of the Sutter Street Railroad. In that year, he also operated a car manufacturing business with his son, Jacob D. Casebolt, Casebolt and Son. This concern had a factory on the northeast corner of Union and Laguna Streets. (See San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1876, p. 188.)

Other members of the Casebolt Family also worked for the Sutter Street Railroad in 1878, including Jacob D., who was the assistant superintendent and Jonathan, who was an engineer.
