Overview

Founded by MA-born metalsmith Daniel Hinckley, this iron-working foundry began San Francisco operations in 1855. It was known in its earliest years as the "Fulton Foundry," and became known later as the "Fulton Iron Works." It operated on Davis Street for about two years before moving to a new location on 1st Street.

Demolition

This first location of the Fulton Iron Works disappeared long ago. By the 1970s, the Two and Three Embarcadero Center buildings were built in 1974 and 1977, respectively, on or near the site.
