Overview
This congregation formed in 1869, the first of several Presbyterian churches to operate in Santa Barbara, CA. Others included the congregations of El Montecito (founded 1887), Saint Andrews (1959), and Goleta (1960). According to Storke'sA Memorial and Biographical History of the Counties of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Ventura, California, the 1st Presbyterian Church was erected in 1874 at a cost of $15,000.
