Merchant James Edwin Doty (born 07/28/1858 in IA-d. 08/22/1940 in Los Angeles County, CA), an importer of carriages, harness and other equipment, lived in the Doty Block in 1888. (See Los Angeles, California, City Directory, 1888, p. 930.) Doty married Laura Barrett Sandham on 06/05/1889 in Pasadena, CA.
