Overview
This U-shaped highrise stood next to the Pacific Coast Club Tower on Alamitos Beach in Long Beach, CA. Chateauesque in style, the building styled itself as the "tallest building in Southern California" during the 1940s. Most sources indicated that it was the second tallest structure in Los Angeles County during the middle of the twentieth century.
Alteration
In the 1950s, a large, neon sign that read "V-R Hotel" was appended to the turret on top of the building's mansard roof.
The color of the hotel's mansard roof changed over time from reddish to green.
