Overview
The Occidental Hotel #3 should not be confused with the Occidental Building (or Occidental Block), erected in 1890, located on a flat-iron piece of land at Front (later 1st Avenue), James Street and Yesler Way. The Occidental Block would not be used as a hotel until 1897, and the return of prosperity to Seattle brought by the Klondike Gold Rush. After 1897, the hotel in Occidental Block was known as the "Seattle Hotel."
Building History
