Overview
The Metropolis Hotel catered to a workingclass clientele in 1873, and operated on the northwest corner of Salmon and Front Streets. D.D. Bunnell was its proprietor. (See Samuel´s Directory of Portland and East Portland, 1873, p. 258.) Four years later, a hotel by the same name was in business on the southeast corner of 1st and Main Streets. (See Portland, Oregon, City Directory, 1877, p. 130.)
