Overview

John Graham and Company produced the report, Pioneer Square Redevelopment, Seattle, Washington, July 1966, on the future of Pioneer Square that was commissioned by investment banker and developer Ben B. Ehrlichman of the Urban Corporation.

Building Notes

A copy once owned by James J. Chiarelli was donated to the University of Washington's Built Environments Library and is available at HT168 .S6 J64. Chiarelli was a member of the Pioneer Square Advisory Committee which advised the Seattle Planning and Redevelopment Council, "a nonprofit civilian urban-renewal agency" that was tasked by Mayor James d'Orma Braman 1901-1980) to evaluate the Urban Corporation/Graham planning study. (See Dick Moody, "Pioneer Square Area Should Come Alive Again, Group Tells Seattle," Seattle Daily Times, 01/01/1967, p. 19.) Other members of this committee included chair Paul W. Seibert, Vice-President of the Investment Exchange Corporation, Cecil C. Arnold, Marvin Burke, James Hussey, Rev. Mineo Katagiri, Robert Mitchell, Mechlin Moore, Arthur Morgan, Mrs. Arthur J. Krauss, William Speidel, Roger Thibodeau, Henry Wood and Paul Hayden Kirk. Chiarelli was a former architectural partner of Kirk.
