Overview

R.P Greer managed this business that produced anhydrous and aqua ammonia for refrigeration purposes, from 1901 until 1906 in San Francisco. The Earthquake and Fire of 04/18-19/1906 destroyed the factory and its machinery. In 1908, Greer made plans to relocate to Seattle, WA, where another plant was built on the northern shore of Lake Union. On the Pacific Coast, ammonia refrigeration was used heavily in the fishing industry. The Pacific Ammonia and Chemical Company plant in San Francisco was located on the northwest corner of Webster and Francisco Streets. (See Crocker-Langley San Francisco, California, City Directory, 1905, p. 1442.)

Demolition

This factory was burned in 1906. The Marina Middle School occupied its former location in 2018.
