Overview

Pioneering Seattle lumberman Henry L. Yesler operated this second lumber mill on this Union Bay site, beginning in 1888. It processed trees that stood in what would become the neighborhoods of Laurelhurst, Bryant and the University District. It operated until 1895 in its first iteration.

Demolition

Yesler's Union Bay Mill #1 burned in a fire in 1895. It was rebuilt and operated until burning again in the early 1920s.
