Overview

In 1889, the early clothing retailer Kline and Rosenberg operated a store at 208 Commercial Street (later renamed 1st Avenue South) in Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood. A fire on 06/06/1889 destroyed a huge swath of Pioneer Square, then Seattle's central business district, including the Kline and Rosenberg Store at 208 Commercial.

Building History

In 1889, Lazarus Kline and Samuel Rosenberg managed the clothing company. Kline, according to R.L. Polk and Company's Seattle City Directory, 1889, (p. 275) resided in San Francisco, CA, while Rosenberg lived in Seattle at 1311 3rd Avenue. (See R.L. Demolition

This store burned in the Great Fire of 1889.
