The Granger Building was located on the southwest corner of 5th Avenue and D Street.

Overview

Ralph Granger and a partner, Eric Von Buddenbrock, forwarded money to Theodore Renninger who would eventually find a rich lode of silver at his Last Chance Mine in Creede, CO. Enriched by this discovery, Granger moved to San Diego in the 1890s, and began investing in real estate. He announced the construction of this five-story office building in 1899, but didn't complete the investment property until 1905, at a cost of $125,000.

The architect Edward Quayle leased Rooms #229-231 in the Granger Building in 1907. (See San Diego City and County Directory, 1907, [San Diego: San Diego Directory Company, 1907], p. 631.)
