Overview
Businessman Leon Harter commissioned Los Angeles architect Walter J. Saunders to design a new six-story building for him in 1924. The Los Angeles Times mentioned this commission in its pages on 02/10/1924: "W.J. Saunders has completed plans for a six-story store and loft building to be erected on the southwest corner of Twenty-first and San Pedro street for Leon Harter at a cost of $100,000." (See Important Deals Closed during Seven-Day Period," Los Angeles Times, 02/10/1924, p. D1.) It does appear to have been constructed.
