Overview
This steel-frame temporary event space, erected in 2005 for $6.7 million, became little used seven years after its construction, prompting some San Jose city officials to advocate its demolition. These critics charged that the building cost $100,000 per year to maintain, and recommended replacing it with a parking lot. (See San Jose Mercury-News.com, "San Jose Convention Center's South Hall a Demolition and Criticism Target," published 05/30/2012, accessed 03/28/2018.) As of 2017, the building had not been removed.
