Overview

The Seattle architect Albert Horace Albertson designed the South Court Apartments during his time as the United States Housing Corporation's Chief Architect working on World War I housing in Bremerton, WA. Rapid expansion of US Navy Puget Sound facilities in Bremerton during 1916-1918 created the need for hundreds of housing units to be built quickly to house an influx of shipyard workers. Albertson worked with Seattle's A.W. Quist Company, general contractor, to erect more than 300 single-family dwellings and this courtyard apartment block, the South Court Apartments in 1918.
