San Jose architects Binder and Curtis designed a bank for the San Jose Building and Loan Association in 1922. It was not realized.
Building History
The prominent San Jose-based architectural firm, Binder and Curtis, designed this two-floor office building designed for the San Jose Building and Loan Association.The Architect and Engineer reported in its issue of 01/1922: "Architects Binder & Curtis of San Jose are preparing plans for a two-story bank and office building to be erected on South First street, San Jose, for the Mutual Building & Loan Association, to cost $35,000.” (See “Mutual Loan Building, Architect and Engineer, vol. LXVIII, no. 1, 01/1922, p. 110.)
This Binder and Curtis design was not built. Another proposal by Albert Roller and J.P. West of San Francisco was built, completed in 1926-1927.
