Overview

The Mariposa Store began operation in about 1874, following the merger of the Auzerais Brothers’ and A.E. Pomerol’s general stores. Edward Auzerais and A.E. Pomeroy ran a wholesale and retail general merchandise store in 1874. (See San Jose, California, City Directory, 1874, p. 28.)
