Overview
The Oregon Country Provisional Government met in Oregon City, OR, from 1844 until 1848, and the Oregon Territorial Government met in Oregon City during 1848-1852, when, after heated debate, the capitol was moved to the City of Salem. It appears that the Oregon Country Provisional Government and later (after 1848) the Territorial Government operated in at least two locations in Oregon City. A second, private building built in 1850 by John L. Morrison (Oregon Territorial Capitol #2) served as a seat of the Territorial Government in Oregon City from 1850-1852.
