Building History
A group of five shareholders pooled their money to rebuild the Arrowhead Hot Springs Hotel for the third time. The Los Angeles Herald stated in 08/1895: "The Arrowhead Hot Springs Hotel company filed amended articles of incorporation in the county clerk's office today. The only change in the articles is in the third section, which provides that the principal office of the company shall be at Los Angeles instead of at Arrowhead springs. The list of stockholders includes A.B. Chapman of the Santa Anita ranch, J.W. Gillette and B.F. Coulter of Los Angeles, Sylvester Lyman of Westminster and R.R. Darby of Arrowhead Hot Springs. The capital stock is still placed at $100,000, and is divided among the five stockholders, each subscribing 200 shares. The action on the part of the company is conclusive evidence that the rebuilding of the burned hotel will be gone forward with at once." (See "Arrowhead Hotel Reorganization," Los Angeles Herald, vol 44, no. 121, 08/10/1895, p. 3.)
Alteration
Plans to expand the hotel were announced in 1908: "During the summer the guest capacity of the Arrowhead hotel will be doubled. At present the house has 100 rooms for guests, and it has been crowded. The plans for the erection of the addition have not been completed, but will be soon, and work will be commenced as soon as the tourist season closes." (See "Capacity of Arrowhead Hotel to Be Enlarged," Los Angeles Herald, vol. 35, no. 150, 02/29/1908, p. 7.)
