Building History

The architectural partnership of Barber and Kingsbury produced the Gothic Revival Style design of the McCarty Memorial Christian Church in Los Angeles, CA. The church was constructed of reinforced concrete unlike the masonry piles of medieval Europe, to withstand frequent earthquakes in Southern CA. A serious earthquake struck Long Beach the year (on 03/10/1933) following this church's completion.
